Kyran Anderson Academy is a one-week summer enrichment program for rising third through sixth graders designed to enhance students’ enthusiasm and preparation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with a particular emphasis on reaching underserved and students historically underrepresented in STEM disciplines. Students actively discover the wonder of STEM through inquiry-based activities, field trips, presentations, and career exploration activities with STEM professionals.
Grade(s): Rising 3rd – 6th
Theme: Future Energy
For one week in the summer of 2022, rising 3-6 graders will become engineers as Kyran Anderson Academy explores the future of energy science and the students engage in various activities associated with renewable energy and sustainability including: wind power, solar power, bioreactors, and more! They’ll use what they’ve learned to build their own models of sustainable energy, and develop an understanding of how energy production shapes the world around us. All programming will take place at The Science House on North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus.
