Description:
Teaching climate change can be challenging. The science is complex; students often enter the classroom with misconceptions and then continue to encounter a growing amount of climate misinformation outside of school. Teachers shouldn't have to navigate these challenges without the right tools and support.
Join us for an interactive, one-day workshop on teaching climate change! Participants will explore practical, research-informed strategies and classroom resources designed to address these challenges. Teachers will experience NCSE’s “Climate Change in Your Backyard” Story Short, designed to build accurate climate understanding while directly addressing common student misconceptions, and DataWISE, a framework for helping students critically evaluate scientific claims, data, and misinformation in the broader information landscape. Teachers will leave with free, classroom-ready lessons and tools they can use immediately, along with time to engage with the materials, ask questions, and consider how they fit within their own classrooms.
