Location: NC Center for Engineering Technologies (NCCET) 1990 Main Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602

Description: The world of STEM provides a rich environment that motivates children to want to learn more. Children often prefer reading about spiders and dinosaurs to fictional characters. STEM activities help students build vocabulary, incorporate problem-solving skills, and analyze complex text with real-world applications. Maximize classroom time by integrating literacy with the natural connections of STEM disciplines. The day will be a combination of STEM learning experiences infused with literacy strategies.  The part one session will concentrate on the understanding of STEM, motion, observation versus inference, and biotic/abiotic factors.
Contact hours: 5

Please register separately for the More Literacy & STEM Professional Development if you would like to attend the PD on 3/19/2020. You do not have to take the Literacy & STEM course first.
