The Science House (Northwest Office) Presents: Citizen Science 101

Grade Level(s): 6-12

Date(s): April 5, 2019

Location: NC Center for Engineering Technologies (NCCET) 1990 Main Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602

Cost: $65/participant

Description: Citizen Science allows you and your students to participate in current research on various topics. The most exciting part for your students is that we don’t know the answers to the research questions! They are discovering the answers as they complete the projects. They can also create their own questions to investigate. This session will introduce you to some current Citizen Science projects and you will leave the session with a plan to incorporate them in your classroom. You will actually participate in these projects during the session. NC Kenan Fellows have created these middle school projects and have conducted them in their classrooms. The projects include connections to the objectives in the NC curriculum for Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

This will be a day of exploration and hands-on activities.
