The Mountain Office Presents: Literacy and STEM (part 1)
Grade Level(s): 3-12
Date(s): December 1, 2020 9am-3pm
Location: Mountain Horticultural Crops Research & Ext. Center, 455 Research Drive, Mills River, NC 28759
Description: The world of STEM provides a rich environment that motivates children to want to learn more. Children often prefer reading about spiders and dinosaurs to fictional characters. STEM activities help students build vocabulary, incorporate problem-solving skills, and analyze complex text with real-world applications. Maximize classroom time by integrating literacy with the natural connections of STEM disciplines. The day will be a combination of STEM learning experiences infused with literacy strategies. The part one session will concentrate on the understanding STEM, motion, observation versus inference, and biotic/abiotic factors.
- If we are unable to hold this workshop face-to-face it will still be held virtually on Zoom on this date.
