The Mountain Satellite Office Hosts: Earthquakes in NC

Description: Calling all K-12 teachers and non-formal educators to join us for a day of hands-on, activity-based earthquake information that you will immediately be able to use in your classroom or education center.  Attendees will participate in many of the activities and demonstrations that are taught by outstanding N.C. earth science teachers.  We will also cover the history of earthquakes in North Carolina and learn how to prepare for an earthquake emergency.  Do you know the magnitude of the largest earthquake that occurred in North Carolina? How about the largest earthquake that has affected our state? Attend and you will find out!

Participants will receive a FREE earthquake education classroom kit including a workbook with all the activities, plus an additional Free kit for their school or organization. Participants are eligible for 0.7 CEUs and/or seven hours of credit toward N.C. Environmental Education Certification (criteria III).

This workshop is presented by N.C. award winning earth science teachers and the N.C. Geological Survey, in partnership with the N.C. Division of Emergency Management.
