Description: Imhotep Academy is a year-round middle school enrichment program that introduces students to the world of STEM with a particular emphasis on reaching underserved and students historically underrepresented in STEM disciplines. Imhotep aims to increase students’ awareness and enthusiasm for learning STEM, build students’ confidence and identity in STEM, and inspire students to continue studying STEM throughout high school and college. Participants engage in a variety of activities including hands-on investigations, laboratory tours, field trips, leadership, college readiness, and interactions with STEM professionals.

Session Theme: Forensic Mysteries

Get ready for detective work and scientific exploration at our thrilling Forensic Mysteries Session! If you’ve ever wondered how real-life detectives solve cases this is your chance to become a junior sleuth and unravel secrets using the power of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Whether it’s at a crime scene or in the lab, you’ll be learning about forensic science and related careers through the building blocks of biology, physics, pharmacology, statistics, computer modeling and criminal justice. Students will also be exposed to forensics specialties, including ballistics, forensic engineering, toxicology, and multimedia sciences. Students will ask questions, think critically, and work together as a team at The Science House on North Carolina State University's Dix Campus.

Mandatory Orientation: September 27, 2023, 6:30 pm
