Imhotep Academy Astronomy: Hidden Figures

Cost: $225, Early Bird rate is $175 by August 31.

Description: Imhotep Academy introduces under-represented students (African-Americans, Hispanic, Native Americans, female) to chemistry, mathematics, marine, earth and atmospheric sciences, physics and statistics through laboratory experiments, research projects, classroom instruction and field trips. While teaching participants about the contributions of scientist and inventors from under-represented groups, Imhotep Academy builds self-confidence and self-esteem. Students in the Algebra Session rotate through three classes using Algebra as a tool for making sense of the world, solving problems, and modeling everyday numerical scenarios.

Session Theme:

Middle school students (current 6, 7 and 8 graders) will engage with the concepts of propulsion, rocketry, experimental and simulated design. Students will ask questions, think critically, and work together as a team at The Science House on North Carolina State University's Centennial Campus.

Mandatory Orientation: September 20, 2018, 6:30 pm

Early Payment Deadline:  August 31, 2018 1st, $175 after $225. Limited scholarships are sponsored by Jack and Jill of America Foundation and payments plans available.
