The Science House (Northwest Office) Presents: Using Makey Makey to Target Invention Literacy

Join us for a day of exploration and invention using a device called a Makey Makey! With the Makey Makey, students can make any conductive material act as a computer keyboard. Because it comes preprogrammed, students with no coding experience can use it and experiment with it as they start to learn coding. Capitalize on the maker movement in your classroom to enhance any curriculum. Teachers joining us will be able to check out a classroom set of Makey Makey kits to use in their classrooms! Participants will register before 11/1/19 will receive their own Makey Makey kit! This program qualifies for new Digital Learning competencies!

Bring your materials for your event to the NCSO Build Clinics in Hickory, NC and receive assistance and tips from our expert leaders! Build clinics will be held for the following events: Ramp and Roll, Bottle Rocket/Ping-Pong Parachute, Boomilever, and Pasta Tower. Once they are built, you can test them!

The Science Behind Making – for Caldwell County Teachers Only

February 20-21, 2020

The Education Center, Caldwell County Schools

For CALDWELL County teachers only: Participating teachers will be trained in wireless data collection and Makerspace technologies as they participate in Project-Based Learning (PBL) units. Teachers will develop PBLs of their own which will be implemented in their classrooms during the year. Teachers will also receive a Makey Makey and be able to check out any technology used in the PD from The Science House. Substitutes will be paid as well.
