Help Us Build a Diverse & Inclusive Workforce of the Future

The Science House is excited to announce that we are launching a month long crowdfunding initiative to raise funds to support two of our programs; Imhotep Academy and Reach for the Stars. These programs aim to build a more inclusive and diverse workforce of the future. Your support will make an immediate impact of connecting students to science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers.

Student Scholarships for Imhotep Academy’s 30th Anniversary

Imhotep Academy was designed to increase the interest in STEM for middle school students from backgrounds not traditionally represented in STEM fields.

For many of these students, being a part of Imhotep is the only STEM experience they will have in a year. But without support, our reach is limited.

In honor of Imhotep Academy’s 30 year anniversary we are raising $9,000 that will be used to provide scholarships for 30 students. This will include all their program supplies and experiences, with transportation included for students in need.

Reach for the Stars, a STEM Fair for Students With Disabilities

Reach for the Stars is a new annual STEM fair for middle and high school students with disabilities to promote STEM Careers and opportunities. The event will engage students with hands-on STEM activities, research, educational pathways, careers, and community resources for students with disabilities. We anticipate between 500-1,000 students from North Carolina with disabilities to attend. Our goal is to create a more inclusive, diverse, and innovative STEM workforce with more people with disabilities participating.

Funds will be used to provide STEM supplies for hands-on activities, promotional materials, pay for sign language interpreters, make visually accessible materials for the visually impaired, sensory items for students with Autism or ADHD.
